 Server's backdoors and Trojan Horses

z_unix_hacker (4:32:15 PM): wer r ya theses days?
sonicscapes (6:41:39 PM): hey clyde are you there?
z_unix_hacker (7:24:01 PM): i think they have found me !
sonicscapes (7:24:08 PM): who?
sonicscapes (7:24:13 PM): are they?
sonicscapes (7:24:35 PM): yahoo ppl...
z_unix_hacker (7:24:38 PM): they interrupt my connection
z_unix_hacker (7:24:45 PM): and i think they have something like a backdoor in my sys!
z_unix_hacker (7:25:07 PM): Uunet.
z_unix_hacker (7:25:42 PM): i don't know exactly
sonicscapes (7:26:04 PM): well, u do not do inside job... just outside
z_unix_hacker (7:26:33 PM): there is something trying to disconnect me!
sonicscapes (7:26:54 PM): oh, they blocked you...
z_unix_hacker (7:27:00 PM): i stopped it through 513 TCP
sonicscapes (7:27:14 PM): wow, nice...so what you going to do...
z_unix_hacker (7:27:41 PM): Any UDP service that replies to an incoming packet may be subject to a denial of service attack.!!!
sonicscapes (7:28:05 PM): wow, what exactly does it mean???
sonicscapes (7:28:23 PM): u should be more careful...
z_unix_hacker (7:28:44 PM): they attacked me thruogh port 144
sonicscapes (7:28:52 PM): maybe u shouldn't hack during your working hours...
sonicscapes (7:29:03 PM): wow, this is sound like you really have a lot of fun...
z_unix_hacker (7:29:18 PM): but i need 8 systems for hacking
z_unix_hacker (7:29:28 PM): and i have them just here!
sonicscapes (7:29:35 PM): what do you mean by 8 systems?
z_unix_hacker (7:29:51 PM): don't ya know?!!
z_unix_hacker (7:30:06 PM): unix runns in 8 systems
sonicscapes (7:30:08 PM): please tell me
z_unix_hacker (7:30:15 PM): to loop
sonicscapes (7:30:16 PM): i do not know
sonicscapes (7:30:31 PM): so they won't find your identity correct?
z_unix_hacker (7:30:43 PM): nope
sonicscapes (7:30:46 PM): ?
z_unix_hacker (7:30:57 PM): but they find my location
sonicscapes (7:31:12 PM): yes, don't yahoo keeps ip addresses of everyone?
z_unix_hacker (7:31:23 PM): yeah!
sonicscapes (7:31:44 PM): so if you did something against their ‘perfect order’ they will block it..
z_unix_hacker (7:31:51 PM): although it doesn't make sense at all!
sonicscapes (7:31:57 PM): really why?
z_unix_hacker (7:32:30 PM): Filtering is difficult to implement correctly.
z_unix_hacker (7:32:36 PM): i could just say
z_unix_hacker (7:32:42 PM): i filter it out
sonicscapes (7:32:56 PM): ah see... well, maybe be this is homeland security:)
z_unix_hacker (7:33:49 PM): right!
sonicscapes (7:33:58 PM): yeap, who knows...
z_unix_hacker (7:34:06 PM): i should setup a new firewall!
sonicscapes (7:34:23 PM): yeap, sounds like..
z_unix_hacker (7:34:28 PM): this one seems to be cracked
sonicscapes (7:34:32 PM): or just simply change the screname?
z_unix_hacker (7:34:54 PM): nope! i think there is
sonicscapes (7:35:00 PM): yes..?
z_unix_hacker (7:35:00 PM): some backdoor
z_unix_hacker (7:35:09 PM): in my system!
sonicscapes (7:35:18 PM): ah see..
z_unix_hacker (7:35:45 PM): it might be a trojan horse!
z_unix_hacker (7:35:54 PM): or any version of Dsin
sonicscapes (7:35:59 PM): wow, u see even you get a trojan horse...
z_unix_hacker (7:36:33 PM): i found some .tds files in my root!
sonicscapes (7:36:42 PM): ah see...
z_unix_hacker (7:36:44 PM): damn ! it is trojan
sonicscapes (7:36:49 PM): wow...
z_unix_hacker (7:37:15 PM): i know how to treat this little viruses!
sonicscapes (7:37:44 PM): kool...
z_unix_hacker (7:38:09 PM): damn
z_unix_hacker (7:38:29 PM): sys 4 got dc right now!
sonicscapes (7:39:00 PM): u r funny... surrounded by invisible viruses
sonicscapes (7:39:14 PM): good treat it.. u had been hacked!
z_unix_hacker (7:39:32 PM): they have uncovered all the holes on my systems!
z_unix_hacker (7:40:09 PM): i noticed that
it has an "ftp" account, which usually means that anonymous ftp is enabled.
sonicscapes (7:40:10 PM): wow, sounds serious
z_unix_hacker (7:40:38 PM): Anonymous ftp can be an easy way to get access, as it is often
misconfigured.!!
sonicscapes (7:40:52 PM): yes, i know that, true
z_unix_hacker (7:41:16 PM): the target may have a complete copy of the
/etc/passwd file in the anonymous ftp ~ftp/etc directory instead of a
stripped down version.
sonicscapes (7:41:36 PM): ah see,i understand now
sonicscapes (7:41:58 PM): clyde, do you hack for fun or for work too>?
z_unix_hacker (7:42:24 PM): just for fun!
sonicscapes (7:42:32 PM): yeap, kool...
z_unix_hacker (7:42:43 PM): i don't make money in this way!
sonicscapes (7:42:49 PM): so it's like a mouse cat game..
z_unix_hacker (7:42:56 PM): right
sonicscapes (7:42:59 PM): ah see, so you are a true artist;)
z_unix_hacker (7:43:36 PM): this is a hard trouble-making art
z_unix_hacker (7:43:50 PM): wow
z_unix_hacker (7:44:06 PM): now i can see the terminal window
z_unix_hacker (7:44:11 PM): This
allows you to remotely execute a command -- in this case, mailing the
password file back to yourself -- by the simple method of creating a
.forward file that executes a command when mail is sent to the ftp account.
sonicscapes (7:44:13 PM): ah yeah, that's true... it is about testing new software’s and tell these corporate moguls where they wrong by telling everyone, it's 100% secure...ye, right..
z_unix_hacker (7:45:00 PM): commands like del *.com
sonicscapes (7:45:10 PM): wow, what program it is again?
z_unix_hacker (7:45:13 PM): or a cool .bat file
sonicscapes (7:45:22 PM): ah see...
z_unix_hacker (7:45:44 PM): i got access to one of their systems now
sonicscapes (7:46:04 PM): ah see, do you know just about where is it coming from?
z_unix_hacker (7:46:21 PM): i have their terminal window here in sys3.
z_unix_hacker (7:46:33 PM): i'm trying to find them!
sonicscapes (7:46:39 PM): any specific location..?
sonicscapes (7:46:53 PM): ah c, k.. sounds like fun...
z_unix_hacker (7:47:10 PM): just one thing more ! yeah
sonicscapes (7:47:24 PM): YEAP
z_unix_hacker (7:47:48 PM): i typed these things in their terminal window
z_unix_hacker (7:47:52 PM): evil % ftp victim.com

z_unix_hacker (7:48:18 PM): it works
z_unix_hacker (7:48:23 PM): 200 PORT command successful
sonicscapes (7:48:28 PM): wowwwwwww, so u hve got into their system?
z_unix_hacker (7:48:47 PM): yeah through port200
sonicscapes (7:49:01 PM): nice work... i could visualize
z_unix_hacker (7:49:20 PM): 150 ASCII data connection for /bin/ls (192.192.192.1,1129) (198 bytes).
total 5
sonicscapes (7:49:42 PM): so u have ip, so now it's easy..
z_unix_hacker (7:49:53 PM): yeah! so easy

z_unix_hacker (7:50:27 PM): zwatch 2.1
sonicscapes (7:50:36 PM): is it freeware?
z_unix_hacker (7:51:07 PM): no, it is a self scripting soft

z_unix_hacker (7:51:35 PM): wow , see, 226 ASCII Transfer complete.
242 bytes received in 0.066 seconds (3.6 Kbytes/s)
z_unix_hacker (7:51:47 PM): that is coooool
z_unix_hacker (7:51:52 PM): isn't it?
sonicscapes (7:52:11 PM): u know one fo my screename is blocked, someone hacked it, i can't get into it anymore... it was beta_testxyz
sonicscapes (7:52:30 PM): so what now, are you in?
z_unix_hacker (7:52:40 PM): really?
sonicscapes (7:52:54 PM): yes, like a week ago or so...

z_unix_hacker (7:54:20 PM): both r possible
sonicscapes (7:54:35 PM): i didn't do anything illegal, except i did install this wir4d soft. called leonard1,2,3,4,
sonicscapes (7:54:55 PM): yes, but it could be fun to find out who?
z_unix_hacker (7:54:57 PM): yahoo has too many problems these days!

sonicscapes (7:57:58 PM): do you think it's better if someone is online?
z_unix_hacker (7:58:11 PM): The security auditing tool COPS will check if your anonymous ftp setup is ok!
sonicscapes (7:58:23 PM): ahj see funny..
sonicscapes (7:58:58 PM): im looking for ip now
z_unix_hacker (7:59:05 PM): lol!

white_hackers_never_die (6:46:10 PM): especially solaris, linux and BSD
sonicscapes (6:46:32 PM): yes, i know they the most durable
white_hackers_never_die (6:46:36 PM): it depends on wat r going to do with the server
sonicscapes (6:46:53 PM): do you think any of these will work? http://olm.net/shared/ensim/compare.html
sonicscapes (6:47:13 PM): well, we will present the following:
white_hackers_never_die (6:47:28 PM): actually Modular OSs r cool for security affairs
white_hackers_never_die (6:47:47 PM): ya could take care of Kernel
sonicscapes (6:47:54 PM): ah see...
white_hackers_never_die (6:48:03 PM): and forget all the others
white_hackers_never_die (6:48:08 PM): others"
sonicscapes (6:48:14 PM): okay
white_hackers_never_die (6:49:03 PM): how much r ya goin to pay for this service?
sonicscapes (6:49:10 PM): so we will do Pharming, Web application attack simulation, Internal network attack simulation
sonicscapes (6:49:27 PM): for which service with olm?
white_hackers_never_die (6:49:32 PM): at all?
white_hackers_never_die (6:49:46 PM): yeap
sonicscapes (6:49:50 PM): at all?? it all depends what i will need..
white_hackers_never_die (6:50:13 PM): olm
white_hackers_never_die (6:51:07 PM): i think e-developer or e-pro r both ok
sonicscapes (6:51:17 PM): depends, i would like to get 3 servers or let’s say i need 3 IPs' and difference preference for it
white_hackers_never_die (6:51:40 PM): at least
sonicscapes (6:51:48 PM): cool...yes
white_hackers_never_die (6:52:10 PM): why 3 servers?
white_hackers_never_die (6:52:18 PM): i don't see the reason?
sonicscapes (6:53:08 PM): well, to perform 3 different as i mentioned live stuff, maybe it could be on 1 server with different ips' etc.. im not sure
white_hackers_never_die (6:53:37 PM): yeah, ya could use one server
sonicscapes (6:53:41 PM): or 1 dedicated.. it will cost less
white_hackers_never_die (6:54:03 PM): sure!
white_hackers_never_die (6:54:10 PM): subnet it
white_hackers_never_die (6:54:12 PM): then
white_hackers_never_die (6:54:27 PM): to 3 , 8 , or wat ever
white_hackers_never_die (6:54:37 PM): IPs ya like
sonicscapes (6:54:53 PM): yeap, so it will be better to get e-vpsvalue, it has 5 seperate IPs..http://www.olm.net/vps/ensim/compare.html total 59.95
white_hackers_never_die (6:54:54 PM): it will cost less!
sonicscapes (6:55:11 PM): exactly
white_hackers_never_die (6:55:22 PM): that's ok too!
sonicscapes (6:55:32 PM): yes, i think...
sonicscapes (6:56:11 PM): u see all the share hosting have only 1 ip, but i do not think i shoudl use subdomans for it wetc..
sonicscapes (6:56:29 PM): so e-vpsvalue could work well...
white_hackers_never_die (6:56:39 PM): yeah
sonicscapes (6:56:44 PM): *share
white_hackers_never_die (6:56:51 PM): i got
white_hackers_never_die (6:57:13 PM): and don't use UDP
white_hackers_never_die (6:57:33 PM): in ur servers
white_hackers_never_die (6:57:47 PM): TCP is much more secure
sonicscapes (6:57:52 PM): and it supports mysql, has PERL
Python

FREE
PHP

FREE
C/C++ With GCC

FREE Zend Engine
sonicscapes (6:58:28 PM): sorry, yeap tcp is better
sonicscapes (6:58:37 PM): better
sonicscapes (7:00:03 PM): so how long you work with computers, long..
white_hackers_never_die (7:02:20 PM): i work with computer both in NET and physics
white_hackers_never_die (7:02:40 PM): i mean quantum physics
sonicscapes (7:02:41 PM): nice... and math
white_hackers_never_die (7:03:10 PM): and math of course
white_hackers_never_die (7:03:32 PM): topology and fractal geometry
sonicscapes (7:03:47 PM): yeap, im not dealing much directly with mathematics, but i use it more for an abstract concepts..
white_hackers_never_die (7:04:03 PM): that have lots of uses in M theory
sonicscapes (7:04:43 PM): yes... and what you going to do after you finish it?
sonicscapes (7:04:59 PM): create a new nuclear devise;)?
sonicscapes (7:05:03 PM): new

sonicscapes (7:07:34 PM): clyde are you there/
white_hackers_never_die (7:09:24 PM): r ya back?
sonicscapes (7:10:34 PM): well, i wander what you will do after you finish this school, u know i had a good friend from helsinki, he studied similar subject and he is working now for nokia developing wi fi and some other programming...
white_hackers_never_die (7:11:38 PM): right !
sonicscapes (7:11:46 PM): yes..
white_hackers_never_die (7:11:48 PM): well !
sonicscapes (7:12:17 PM): im working on my company new site
white_hackers_never_die (7:12:32 PM): i don't know exactly
white_hackers_never_die (7:13:04 PM): i will continue quantum physics
white_hackers_never_die (7:13:14 PM): i can work for NASA
white_hackers_never_die (7:13:26 PM): or US army
white_hackers_never_die (7:13:33 PM): i don't know
sonicscapes (7:13:35 PM): great, so it looks like it will be science most of your life..
sonicscapes (7:13:43 PM): wow, us army, why?????????
sonicscapes (7:13:57 PM): yes, work for nasa it's more fun..
white_hackers_never_die (7:14:13 PM): i think they need it ! any way !
sonicscapes (7:14:15 PM): check bincode new interface in flash 8 http://bincodeproduction.com/winux/bincode_new_media/
white_hackers_never_die (7:14:42 PM): in nanospaces
sonicscapes (7:14:52 PM): such a brain like yours can’t be wasted in figt!
white_hackers_never_die (7:14:56 PM): quantum rules run
white_hackers_never_die (7:15:28 PM): so anything dealing with nanospaces
sonicscapes (7:15:41 PM): nanospace, hmm
white_hackers_never_die (7:15:56 PM): should be studied from this point of view!
sonicscapes (7:16:17 PM): yes
sonicscapes (7:16:41 PM): u know i dreamed about being a first artist on planet mars...
sonicscapes (7:17:11 PM): in real but in that sense... i still work on it, but it's dam expensive..
white_hackers_never_die (7:18:42 PM): i love artists!
white_hackers_never_die (7:18:53 PM): real ones
sonicscapes (7:19:37 PM): yeah.. great.. yes i deal only with real, im quite a real one too, u know..
sonicscapes (7:20:27 PM): u can sense a pseudo artist form the actual one, they just act naturally, the real once are naturally INSANE!!!!!!!..
white_hackers_never_die (7:22:43 PM): right
white_hackers_never_die (7:22:45 PM): nice
white_hackers_never_die (7:22:54 PM): art of hacking
sonicscapes (7:23:03 PM): thnx.. lots still to do, this hackers show
sonicscapes (7:23:08 PM): yeap...
white_hackers_never_die (7:23:31 PM): i don't know how hacking could be considered as an art??
white_hackers_never_die (7:23:48 PM): ya should be creative
white_hackers_never_die (7:23:54 PM): but it deals with brain
sonicscapes (7:24:01 PM): what you mean?
white_hackers_never_die (7:24:25 PM): hacking is a matter of mind.
sonicscapes (7:24:28 PM): yes, u see lost of things shifts around, as u look at Marcel duchamp firts installation
sonicscapes (7:25:01 PM): ‘fountain’, he was a strong conceptual creative mind player
sonicscapes (7:25:49 PM): i think there is a slight thin line when comes to visual arts and concept of science..
white_hackers_never_die (7:25:50 PM): lol!
sonicscapes (7:26:15 PM): are you considered yourself a creative person?
white_hackers_never_die (7:26:21 PM): ya?
sonicscapes (7:26:31 PM): wait, i type so fast..
sonicscapes (7:27:11 PM): so, are you considering yourself a creative person?
white_hackers_never_die (7:27:23 PM): welll, maybe
sonicscapes (7:27:29 PM): i think you are... I can tell
white_hackers_never_die (7:27:39 PM): it is hard to answer
white_hackers_never_die (7:28:01 PM): sometimes it happens to me
sonicscapes (7:28:07 PM): u see... net art is now form of art, programming is form of art and sound became a visual form of art too...
sonicscapes (7:28:47 PM): i think when you have such a strong passion towards what you do and its natural, and inventive and creative, it has its strong base
sonicscapes (7:29:23 PM): it's fundamental, as Jospeh Boys said,
sonicscapes (7:29:40 PM): social sculpture
white_hackers_never_die (7:29:58 PM): totally true
sonicscapes (7:30:31 PM): thnx
white_hackers_never_die (7:31:03 PM): networks effect people
white_hackers_never_die (7:31:12 PM): and societies
white_hackers_never_die (7:31:23 PM): like TVs
white_hackers_never_die (7:31:35 PM): and other broadcasting
sonicscapes (7:31:38 PM): yes, exactly
white_hackers_never_die (7:31:52 PM): means
white_hackers_never_die (7:32:21 PM): but wat is the role of hacking in this game?
white_hackers_never_die (7:32:32 PM): hackers destroy!
white_hackers_never_die (7:32:42 PM): things that others make
white_hackers_never_die (7:33:03 PM): hackers break the rules
sonicscapes (7:33:06 PM): well, information exposed new types of creative intervention where art and communication merge, hackers, crackers, phreaks, recognized that the act of hacking is the most effective demonstration of virtuosity, which embodies a powerful mix dynamic skills and information dissemination.
white_hackers_never_die (7:33:06 PM): of net world
white_hackers_never_die (7:34:33 PM): welll...........
sonicscapes (7:34:41 PM): yes..
white_hackers_never_die (7:34:45 PM): let's see
sonicscapes (7:35:07 PM): i do mean more in 'ethical hacking' aspect...
white_hackers_never_die (7:35:15 PM): hackers r not exactly as ya imagine
sonicscapes (7:35:22 PM): Is the act of hacking an evil and mean act?
What are the aesthetics of hacking?
Does every bit is a work of art?
sonicscapes (7:35:53 PM): so explain me, i do programming a little too..
white_hackers_never_die (7:36:05 PM): lol!
white_hackers_never_die (7:36:46 PM): hacking is not nowadays just a simple programming
sonicscapes (7:36:47 PM): my scripting is tho limited to php, javascript, xml and html, action script flash
white_hackers_never_die (7:37:15 PM): that a young boy does in his room
white_hackers_never_die (7:37:16 PM): A young boy, with greasy blonde hair, sitting in a dark room.
sonicscapes (7:37:25 PM): yes...
sonicscapes (7:37:30 PM): and...
white_hackers_never_die (7:37:40 PM): This seems to be the popular image of a system cracker. Young,
inexperienced, and possessing vast quantities of time to waste, to get into
just one more system.
white_hackers_never_die (7:38:00 PM): However, there is a far more dangerous type of system
cracker out there. One who knows the ins and outs of the latest security
auditing and cracking tools,
white_hackers_never_die (7:38:19 PM): who can modify them for specific attacks, and
who can write his/her own programs. One who not only reads about the latest
security holes, but also personally discovers bugs and vulnerabilities.
sonicscapes (7:38:30 PM): well, i think this is more like a stereotype, i think we are dealing now with very sophisticated group of young binary intellectuals...
white_hackers_never_die (7:39:08 PM): well ,right...A
deadly creature that can both strike poisonously and hide its tracks
without a whisper or hint of a trail
white_hackers_never_die (7:39:36 PM): a real creative hacker
white_hackers_never_die (7:39:49 PM): all cool hackers i know r above 36
sonicscapes (7:39:53 PM): yeap... a new generation of hackers crackers... they'll have the reality and v-reality in their hands
sonicscapes (7:40:16 PM): yes,m I guess pioneers...im pioneer...
white_hackers_never_die (7:40:37 PM): right!
white_hackers_never_die (7:40:41 PM): The uebercracker is here.
sonicscapes (7:40:53 PM): so we need you and your generation to share the experiences...
white_hackers_never_die (7:41:03 PM): or ueberHacker
sonicscapes (7:41:13 PM): ueberHacker,ye, good comparisement…
white_hackers_never_die (7:41:46 PM): The idea is stolen, obviously, from Nietzsche's
uebermensch, or, literally translated into English, "over man.
sonicscapes (7:42:08 PM): yeah,
white_hackers_never_die (7:42:20 PM): " Nietzsche
used the term not to refer to a comic book superman, but instead a man who
had gone beyond the incompetence, pettiness, and weakness of the everyday
man.
sonicscapes (7:42:38 PM): yes
sonicscapes (7:42:48 PM): the fullest potentials
white_hackers_never_die (7:43:11 PM): The ueberhacker is therefore the system hacker who has gone beyond
simple cookbook methods of breaking into systems.
sonicscapes (7:43:22 PM): nice...
white_hackers_never_die (7:43:33 PM): An ueberhacker is not
usually motivated to perform random acts of violence
white_hackers_never_die (7:43:50 PM): Targets are not
arbitrary
white_hackers_never_die (7:44:14 PM): there is a purpose, whether it be personal monetary gain, a
hit and run raid for information, or a challenge to strike a major or
prestigious site or net.personality
sonicscapes (7:44:23 PM): ah ses, sounds more like a test...
sonicscapes (7:44:53 PM): it's like punk revolution
white_hackers_never_die (7:44:55 PM): An ueberhacker is hard to detect,
harder to stop, and hardest to keep out of your site for good.
white_hackers_never_die (7:45:15 PM): right!
sonicscapes (7:45:15 PM): yeah, ghost in machine
white_hackers_never_die (7:45:26 PM): lol
sonicscapes (7:46:44 PM): bye
white_hackers_never_die (7:47:08 PM): ya too! keep in touch , bye
sonicscapes (7:47:20 PM): sure, we will we have lots to do... bye

sonicscapes (8:23:02 PM): =D>
sonicscapes (8:23:15 PM): ok, now i can trust you to tell you my project...
white_hackers_never_die (8:23:25 PM): right!
white_hackers_never_die (8:23:26 PM): ya r right man!
white_hackers_never_die (8:24:06 PM): yeah!
sonicscapes (8:24:10 PM): cool.. please go to http://hackersinternational.com/access.html
sonicscapes (8:24:26 PM): you will find there details about next project we are curating in Russia
sonicscapes (8:24:32 PM): im from NYC
white_hackers_never_die (8:25:29 PM): i would be glad to help!
white_hackers_never_die (8:25:29 PM): ok!
sonicscapes (8:26:13 PM): fantastic, what a great meeting...
sonicscapes (8:26:49 PM): so basically, what im planning to do in museum setting where during an opening night is to lunch a hackers attack on our local system etc...
sonicscapes (8:27:27 PM): we still nailing down the details how it will happen since the museum doesn't want to loose the hardware etc...
white_hackers_never_die (8:27:42 PM): right!
sonicscapes (8:28:06 PM): and they are very conservative so im planning to set up a seperate server for this purpose etc...
sonicscapes (8:28:41 PM): maybe, you will inspire me a little in this direction?
white_hackers_never_die (8:28:56 PM): wat kind of OS do ya use?
sonicscapes (8:29:07 PM): well, i think linux is the best
white_hackers_never_die (8:29:18 PM): or ya r gonna use?
sonicscapes (8:29:26 PM): ?
sonicscapes (8:30:11 PM): what d u mean?
white_hackers_never_die (8:30:14 PM): solaris!
sonicscapes (8:30:37 PM): hm, good point but i do not know much about it, i have to talk to my IT people...
sonicscapes (8:31:15 PM): why u think solaris, is it safer?
white_hackers_never_die (8:31:37 PM): SunOS. linux,BSD,Xenix and ........
white_hackers_never_die (8:31:46 PM): r good!
white_hackers_never_die (8:31:53 PM): but some special attacks!
sonicscapes (8:32:09 PM): yeap
white_hackers_never_die (8:32:13 PM): could dump them!
white_hackers_never_die (8:32:13 PM): easilly!
white_hackers_never_die (8:32:30 PM): they have clear security holes!
sonicscapes (8:32:37 PM): u know i was thinking about setting 3 separate servers on different operating syst for different attacks etc..
white_hackers_never_die (8:32:40 PM): i can describe to ya!
white_hackers_never_die (8:32:57 PM): if ya want!
sonicscapes (8:33:19 PM): oh yes please, thanks for your time:)
white_hackers_never_die (8:33:25 PM): solaris and Ultrix would be better!
sonicscapes (8:33:27 PM): im dying to find out
white_hackers_never_die (8:33:35 PM): although!
sonicscapes (8:33:40 PM): yes
white_hackers_never_die (8:34:13 PM): i depends on the security systems ya r goin to install and run!
sonicscapes (8:34:41 PM): hm,
sonicscapes (8:34:45 PM): right
sonicscapes (8:35:26 PM): okay, so how hard is to install these systems on share hosting server etc..
white_hackers_never_die (8:35:33 PM): wat's your security system under unix?
sonicscapes (8:35:36 PM): or do i need dedicated?
sonicscapes (8:35:56 PM): well, i have all different servers for different purpose etc..
white_hackers_never_die (8:36:24 PM): right!
white_hackers_never_die (8:36:24 PM): nice!
sonicscapes (8:36:50 PM): yeap... but most servers have option of windows or linux
white_hackers_never_die (8:37:43 PM): forget about windows!
sonicscapes (8:37:55 PM): yes, i know...
white_hackers_never_die (8:38:07 PM): DOS systems r by no means !
sonicscapes (8:38:18 PM): ok... i will try to look into installing the once you did just mention etc...
white_hackers_never_die (8:38:25 PM): for net!
sonicscapes (8:38:38 PM): yeah, easy to get thru... this one we can set up for newbies:)
sonicscapes (8:38:54 PM): yes, the show will be online...
white_hackers_never_die (8:39:10 PM): yeah!
sonicscapes (8:39:29 PM): museum, need maximum security...
white_hackers_never_die (8:39:33 PM): just needs a lil FTP scripting!
sonicscapes (8:39:47 PM): we will invite hackers from all over the world, the hardest are in Russia as you know...
sonicscapes (8:40:23 PM): ah see, well, it looks like i have to learn a lot, hm, we still have a time till april..
white_hackers_never_die (8:40:34 PM): yeah!
white_hackers_never_die (8:40:34 PM): i know!
white_hackers_never_die (8:40:34 PM): i have been there!
white_hackers_never_die (8:40:47 PM): for some week!
sonicscapes (8:41:03 PM): really, did you.. did you like it?
white_hackers_never_die (8:41:19 PM): right now i booted an HTTP server!
sonicscapes (8:41:25 PM): so what do you study, mathematics?
white_hackers_never_die (8:41:49 PM): i love mathematics!
sonicscapes (8:41:58 PM): you did, oh no maybe it was you, i need to tell you something
white_hackers_never_die (8:42:05 PM): and i know a lot in the field!
sonicscapes (8:42:10 PM): great...
sonicscapes (8:42:31 PM): nice, sounds like you are one of the pi movie person...
white_hackers_never_die (8:42:36 PM): wat?
sonicscapes (8:43:03 PM): did u see movie PI (i do not have this character on my keyboard)
white_hackers_never_die (8:43:48 PM): nope!
white_hackers_never_die (8:43:56 PM): sory i don't watch movies!
white_hackers_never_die (8:44:06 PM): no time to do that!
sonicscapes (8:44:11 PM): oh you should, it's all about numbers, how they surround the entire planet, really neat
white_hackers_never_die (8:45:03 PM): Pi=3.14.... ya mean!
white_hackers_never_die (8:45:32 PM): it is the most costant ll over math!
white_hackers_never_die (8:45:47 PM): i have worked on fractals
sonicscapes (8:45:49 PM): yes, exactly...
white_hackers_never_die (8:45:53 PM): someday!
sonicscapes (8:46:01 PM): yeha, fractals that's correct
white_hackers_never_die (8:46:34 PM): fractal geometry and reiman's conjecture!
sonicscapes (8:46:34 PM): so what you do with math, cryptology;)
sonicscapes (8:46:59 PM): yeah, my dear friend study it now... he is so funny, very introverted person...
white_hackers_never_die (8:47:04 PM): deals with somewhat topological meanings!
white_hackers_never_die (8:47:41 PM): huh!
white_hackers_never_die (8:47:41 PM): nice !
white_hackers_never_die (8:48:11 PM): but i don't study math
sonicscapes (8:48:18 PM): sorry, so what?
white_hackers_never_die (8:48:23 PM): i study high energy physics
white_hackers_never_die (8:48:28 PM): M theory!
white_hackers_never_die (8:48:38 PM): and quantum gravity!
sonicscapes (8:48:49 PM): oh, gosh i love it, greattttttttttttttt
white_hackers_never_die (8:49:11 PM): really?!
sonicscapes (8:49:33 PM): i read all steven hawkins theories and so on
white_hackers_never_die (8:49:36 PM): do ya know any about that?
sonicscapes (8:49:50 PM): i read only... for interest
white_hackers_never_die (8:50:13 PM): lol!
white_hackers_never_die (8:50:21 PM): so ya should know String models
white_hackers_never_die (8:50:32 PM): right!
white_hackers_never_die (8:50:57 PM): 11 dimensional world!
sonicscapes (8:50:57 PM): yes, little bit.. im more of an artists;)
sonicscapes (8:51:04 PM): conceptual artist
white_hackers_never_die (8:51:31 PM): right!
sonicscapes (8:51:33 PM): yes, exactly
sonicscapes (8:51:39 PM): 11 dimensional world!
white_hackers_never_die (8:51:40 PM): postmodernism
sonicscapes (8:51:51 PM): nope, u wanna see;)
white_hackers_never_die (8:52:13 PM): a new deal of art!
sonicscapes (8:52:18 PM): but this not fair, u will know everything about me and i can't know anything about you!
sonicscapes (8:52:27 PM): not really, im just a little crazy
white_hackers_never_die (8:52:55 PM): sorry!
sonicscapes (8:52:55 PM): media, net art, mars terraformation etc...
white_hackers_never_die (8:53:27 PM): lol!
sonicscapes (8:53:32 PM): my last project was about terraformation of mars...
white_hackers_never_die (8:53:50 PM): i will loose my position!
sonicscapes (8:53:50 PM): i did start doing some stuff for fun:)
sonicscapes (8:53:56 PM): what? why?
white_hackers_never_die (8:54:12 PM): if i become known!
sonicscapes (8:54:34 PM): ah se, i understand, i will accept this deal... i have invisible friend okay...
white_hackers_never_die (8:54:44 PM): terraformation
white_hackers_never_die (8:54:54 PM): go ahead
white_hackers_never_die (8:55:03 PM): lol
sonicscapes (8:56:11 PM): okay, check this out my friend http://www.bincode.com/projectmars/
white_hackers_never_die (8:56:52 PM): ok!
white_hackers_never_die (8:56:52 PM): i will!
sonicscapes (8:57:16 PM): great thanks, it's just a first draft with some prints, 3d models etc
sonicscapes (8:57:26 PM): still in progress...
sonicscapes (9:00:04 PM): sorry, my computer zapped..
sonicscapes (9:00:12 PM): who did you work with
sonicscapes (9:00:46 PM): i was in touch with nasa, they gave me access to certain files...etc
white_hackers_never_die (9:01:35 PM): about wat?
sonicscapes (9:01:54 PM): sorry, i missed your last text my comp was zapped
white_hackers_never_die (9:02:32 PM): k!
sonicscapes (9:02:47 PM): k, did u zapped it;0?
sonicscapes (9:03:01 PM): sorry, did u zapped it
sonicscapes (9:03:22 PM): im typing so fast..
white_hackers_never_die (9:03:25 PM): for fun!
sonicscapes (9:03:34 PM): 8-}
sonicscapes (9:03:54 PM): u know, once
sonicscapes (9:04:41 PM): i accidentally pressed on link called nethood... it automatically installed itself into my system, and it's still here
white_hackers_never_die (9:04:51 PM): there is no hacker in hackers room!
sonicscapes (9:05:05 PM): the funny thing it has name leonard 1, 2, 3 is it your job guys;)?
white_hackers_never_die (9:05:14 PM): lol!
sonicscapes (9:05:24 PM): ah seee, so it was a small prank, nothing serious happened...
white_hackers_never_die (9:05:25 PM): del it!
white_hackers_never_die (9:05:38 PM): from commad shell!
sonicscapes (9:05:54 PM): i did, i tried it was a good code...
sonicscapes (9:06:03 PM): i have to get my friend to remove it...
white_hackers_never_die (9:06:10 PM): lol!
white_hackers_never_die (9:06:10 PM): 1.2.3..
sonicscapes (9:06:34 PM): yes, the minute it was on my system it did start to spread automatically...
white_hackers_never_die (9:06:47 PM): right!
sonicscapes (9:07:01 PM): boom, boom, i was frantic i had all the security software etc...
white_hackers_never_die (9:07:24 PM): i know!
sonicscapes (9:07:28 PM): yes...
white_hackers_never_die (9:08:21 PM): yeah!
white_hackers_never_die (9:08:30 PM): Writing buffer overflow exploits is my hoby!
sonicscapes (9:08:33 PM): so where shall i look for good hackers you think
white_hackers_never_die (9:09:03 PM): Buffer overflows in user input dependent buffers have become one of
the biggest security hazards on the internet and to modern computing in
general. This is because such an error can easily be made at programming
level, and while invisible for the user who does not understand or cannot
acquire the source code, many of those errors are easy to exploit. This
paper makes an attempt to teach the novice - average C programmer how an
overflow condition can be proven to be exploitable.!!!!!
white_hackers_never_die (9:09:26 PM): the paper i wrote 2 month ago!
white_hackers_never_die (9:09:48 PM): This is a nice paper!
sonicscapes (9:09:50 PM): wow, yes that's correct...
white_hackers_never_die (9:09:51 PM): indeed!
sonicscapes (9:10:00 PM): where can i read it?
white_hackers_never_die (9:10:18 PM): and ya could find good hackers by chance!
sonicscapes (9:11:07 PM): really, you see i think this expo it's cool, i like the concept of the freedom of class and the form of conceptual art etc...
white_hackers_never_die (9:11:46 PM): The principle of exploiting a buffer overflow is to overwrite parts of
memory which aren't supposed to be overwritten by arbitrary input and
making the process execute this code.!!!
sonicscapes (9:12:43 PM): yeah, i noticed something happened to my comp, all my files where indifferent position and when i restart the comp, it was adding something to it... gee, i might have to buy a new one soon..
white_hackers_never_die (9:12:47 PM): do ya understand?
sonicscapes (9:13:08 PM): yes, just about... i will read more about it..
white_hackers_never_die (9:13:32 PM): nope!
sonicscapes (9:13:37 PM): why?
sonicscapes (9:14:12 PM): no much theory on it
white_hackers_never_die (9:14:39 PM): try a new OS

sonicscapes (9:20:30 PM): yeah... can someone transfer a data from my comp after infecting it?
white_hackers_never_die (9:21:32 PM): just need a trojan backdoor!
white_hackers_never_die (9:21:38 PM): installed!

sonicscapes (9:24:49 PM): i see, that;s the wormhole
white_hackers_never_die (9:25:04 PM): yeah!
white_hackers_never_die (9:25:11 PM): exactly!
sonicscapes (9:25:15 PM): ah see, very, very intriguing
sonicscapes (9:25:55 PM): wow, neat... i have to go home soon... im at my office now...
white_hackers_never_die (9:26:18 PM): Creative brains are a valuable, limited resource!
sonicscapes (9:26:21 PM): but we have a deal clyde...
white_hackers_never_die (9:26:30 PM): They shouldn't be wasted on re-inventing the wheel when there are so many fascinating new problems waiting out there. !!
sonicscapes (9:26:33 PM): yeah, that's true
sonicscapes (9:27:34 PM): so will you guide me a little bit regarding this Russia expo, also i would like to invite you anonym...
white_hackers_never_die (9:27:47 PM): To behave like a hacker, you have to believe that the thinking time of other hackers is precious
sonicscapes (9:28:23 PM): yes, the same like a pseudo art and some artist do not know that they aer once
white_hackers_never_die (9:28:34 PM): tanx!
sonicscapes (9:29:03 PM): yeah.. i always think that math and art is very close.. and even now science is closer than ever..
white_hackers_never_die (9:29:47 PM): i would be glad to hack some HTTP servers for ya!
sonicscapes (9:30:04 PM): oh, splendid, we have got a deal!
white_hackers_never_die (9:30:08 PM): art has become a part of science !
sonicscapes (9:30:15 PM): but for you they have to be a good once...
white_hackers_never_die (9:30:19 PM): these days!
sonicscapes (9:30:37 PM): i will contact a security software to set up their latest products for 2006 etc..
white_hackers_never_die (9:30:50 PM): lol!
sonicscapes (9:30:56 PM): yes, and vice verse
sonicscapes (9:31:04 PM): hm what do you think?
sonicscapes (9:31:17 PM): or shall we make it more for fun...
white_hackers_never_die (9:31:53 PM): waitin to see hardest firewalls and VPNs!
white_hackers_never_die (9:32:00 PM): sure!
sonicscapes (9:32:10 PM): ah see... who produce it?
white_hackers_never_die (9:32:23 PM): Hackers are naturally anti-authoritarian!!
sonicscapes (9:33:16 PM): yeap, an abstract class, a class as yet to hack itself into manifest existence as itself
white_hackers_never_die (9:33:44 PM): yep!
sonicscapes (9:33:55 PM): yeah
white_hackers_never_die (9:34:36 PM): The hacker attitude is vital, but skills are even more vital. ya know!
sonicscapes (9:34:51 PM): yeah exactly
sonicscapes (9:35:13 PM): so can i ask u abstract question on the side..
white_hackers_never_die (9:35:34 PM): Attitude is no substitute for competence, and there's a certain basic toolkit of skills which you have to have before any hacker will dream of calling you one. !!!!
white_hackers_never_die (9:35:40 PM): yeah!
sonicscapes (9:35:55 PM): exactimo
sonicscapes (9:36:04 PM): do you believe there is a life in universe...?
white_hackers_never_die (9:36:38 PM): wat kind of life?
white_hackers_never_die (9:36:48 PM): we have different kinds!
sonicscapes (9:36:56 PM): ah, that's another q
sonicscapes (9:37:07 PM): let's say intelligent..
white_hackers_never_die (9:37:25 PM): lol!
white_hackers_never_die (9:37:27 PM): right now!
sonicscapes (9:37:36 PM): yessss
sonicscapes (9:38:10 PM): i know they proved it mathematically, i wander about it
white_hackers_never_die (9:38:31 PM): An intelligent system
white_hackers_never_die (9:38:33 PM): is a particle system
sonicscapes (9:38:34 PM): yeap
white_hackers_never_die (9:38:40 PM): that obeys
sonicscapes (9:38:41 PM): yes...
white_hackers_never_die (9:38:48 PM): particular rules
white_hackers_never_die (9:38:56 PM): these r the rules
white_hackers_never_die (9:39:02 PM): that define
white_hackers_never_die (9:39:09 PM): how intelligent
white_hackers_never_die (9:39:24 PM): the particle system is!
white_hackers_never_die (9:39:49 PM): just like our nervous system!
sonicscapes (9:39:57 PM): hm aha... yes but this is ,,..
white_hackers_never_die (9:40:18 PM): a system made up many many little particles
white_hackers_never_die (9:40:26 PM): called nerve
sonicscapes (9:40:27 PM): yes..
white_hackers_never_die (9:40:48 PM): they interact with each other!
sonicscapes (9:40:56 PM): yes...
white_hackers_never_die (9:41:11 PM): while obeying some particular rules!
white_hackers_never_die (9:41:37 PM): that r defined by our DNA
sonicscapes (9:41:43 PM): yes...
white_hackers_never_die (9:42:10 PM): any particle with itself has no intelligence!
white_hackers_never_die (9:42:24 PM): but the whole system
sonicscapes (9:42:29 PM): hm, yes that's
white_hackers_never_die (9:42:30 PM): acts in a way
white_hackers_never_die (9:42:40 PM): that seems to be intelligent!
white_hackers_never_die (9:42:52 PM): this is just a matter of:
white_hackers_never_die (9:43:06 PM): 1)how many particles?
white_hackers_never_die (9:43:14 PM): 2)wat rules?
sonicscapes (9:43:24 PM): you know what i plan to do, print it out later and read it in pace, to understand more..
white_hackers_never_die (9:43:32 PM): and nothing more!
white_hackers_never_die (9:43:53 PM): our brain
white_hackers_never_die (9:44:06 PM): with its all complexities
white_hackers_never_die (9:44:17 PM): is very simple at some points!
white_hackers_never_die (9:45:12 PM): and never in your brain knows exactly wat to do!
white_hackers_never_die (9:45:26 PM): any nerve"
white_hackers_never_die (9:45:38 PM): how?
sonicscapes (9:45:43 PM): hm,,but this is still just theory
white_hackers_never_die (9:45:45 PM): why?
white_hackers_never_die (9:45:46 PM): it's simple
white_hackers_never_die (9:46:27 PM): relativity used to be a theory someday!
white_hackers_never_die (9:46:40 PM): relativity i mean
sonicscapes (9:46:41 PM): hm, just the pattern we use.. to understand it...
sonicscapes (9:46:46 PM): yeah, sure
white_hackers_never_die (9:47:19 PM): have heard about Cellular Automata?
sonicscapes (9:47:28 PM): i read about it...
white_hackers_never_die (9:47:46 PM): produced by Prof. Wolfram.
white_hackers_never_die (9:47:55 PM): yeah!
sonicscapes (9:47:55 PM): yes
white_hackers_never_die (9:48:08 PM): just see how does it work!
sonicscapes (9:48:16 PM): okay
white_hackers_never_die (9:48:18 PM): too many little things
white_hackers_never_die (9:48:31 PM): obey some rules!
sonicscapes (9:48:37 PM): yes.. and
white_hackers_never_die (9:48:46 PM): and produce very complex situations
white_hackers_never_die (9:49:16 PM): that ya could never predict!
sonicscapes (9:49:17 PM): yeah
sonicscapes (9:49:31 PM): so you can't predict what you produce
white_hackers_never_die (9:49:44 PM): this is exactly wat nature has done!
white_hackers_never_die (9:49:51 PM): nope!
white_hackers_never_die (9:50:03 PM): not exactly!
sonicscapes (9:50:04 PM): yeap, the sense of existence
white_hackers_never_die (9:50:17 PM): wat would be the meaning of a predictable life?
white_hackers_never_die (9:50:25 PM): nothing!
white_hackers_never_die (9:50:37 PM): life is a feeling ya have!
sonicscapes (9:50:38 PM): yes, that's nothing predetermined
white_hackers_never_die (9:51:07 PM): when ya think ya can decide!
white_hackers_never_die (9:51:20 PM): and that is true!
white_hackers_never_die (9:51:30 PM): life isn't really predictable!
white_hackers_never_die (9:51:52 PM): no matter how much do we know about it!
white_hackers_never_die (9:52:17 PM): it is the main rule of quantum physics!
white_hackers_never_die (9:52:24 PM): as ya know!
white_hackers_never_die (9:52:40 PM): probability!
white_hackers_never_die (9:53:13 PM): a quanta doesn't exist in any particular time or place!
sonicscapes (9:53:17 PM): yes, probability
sonicscapes (9:53:28 PM): *probability
white_hackers_never_die (9:53:42 PM): random art!
white_hackers_never_die (9:54:04 PM): combined with some determined rules!
white_hackers_never_die (9:54:28 PM): so it is unpredictable! at the same time as it is!
white_hackers_never_die (9:55:09 PM): the source of our greatest strength, and our greatest weekness!
sonicscapes (9:55:44 PM): yes, random happening...

UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS: The Art of Hacking

UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS: The Art of Hacking

A Media Exhibition in St. Petersburg, Russia
April 2006

" Hackers are a class, but an abstract class, a class as
yet to hack itself into manifest existence as itself."
- McKenzie Wark "The Hacker Manifesto"

The rapid spread of information technologies in past years exposed new types of creative intervention in the ‘networked culture’ where art and communication merge. Hackers, crackers, phreaks, pirates and some net based artists emerging from the underground computer world exposed to web surfers their elicit programming secrets and activities which spread around both fear and fascination. Our perception of hacking has been since prejudiced by mainstream culture and currently hacking has mostly negative connotations, however, if we examine the process itself we will soon enough recognize that the act of hacking is the most effective demonstration of virtuosity, which embodies a powerful mix of internet creative solutions, direct social intervention, dynamic skills and information dissemination.

Hackers, a side effect of ‘networked culture’ can be addressed as a innovative-new form of expression, a new breed of artists with strong critical discourse and creativity.

Is the act of hacking an evil and mean act?
What are the aesthetics of hacking?
Does every bit is a work of art?

The "Unauthorized Access" exhibition aims to develop an open audio-visual dialogue between the ‘network medium’ artists and the viewer in order to answer to some of these questions. Participating hackers as well as net artists invited to the exhibition often were engaged in activities by connecting directly with their audience, avoiding displaying their ‘artwork’ in an institutional setting, this will be a first time for some of them to present their ‘binary masterworks’ in St. Petersburg’s venue.

During the exhibition artists, hacktivists and internationally recognized net art experts will present their projects based on media performance, programming modifications and direct intervention with the audience. The invited projects will bring together different aspects of functionality: live hacking performance, net art presentation, DVD projection, collaboration with local artists based on venue location, exhibition and public interactivity. And it is exactly as the interface of these areas where a new scene of ‘network culture’ and public is emerging.
